Stop Yo-Yo Dieting Forever

Like so many other people I know, I have been on the yo-yo diet bandwagon for almost two decades. I started to struggle with my weight in college, and have never really gotten a good grasp on maintaining a good, healthy, constant weight. I make a commitment to lose so many pounds, and then as soon as I reach my weight loss goals, I begin to slowly slip back into old habits. Inevitably after a few months I have found myself right back where I started. Then I begin the whole ritual again.

This time I have vowed that things will be much different. I am truly going to change—not just for a few weeks or months until I shed the ten or twenty pounds that I want to lose. I am going to completely overhaul the way I look at dieting and exercise. Instead of making it a chore and something I have to do to fit into a certain outfit or to gain a certain look by a certain date, it will be a complete change in the way I look at diet and exercise.

The first step: the insanity workout. Designed to get me into shape and KEEP me in shape, this workout is a great cornerstone to a lifestyle change. Once I successfully finish the program, my new plan is to start it again! Coupled with a truly healthy diet, I can stop yo-yo dieting forever, and finally get and keep the slim, trim body I used to have.

A huge factor to successfully losing weight and keeping it off is not only dieting, but making lifestyle changes. I fully intend to make those changes so that I can stop the cycle forever.

Making The Most Of My New Year’s Resolutions

It seems every year that I make a list of resolutions which are immediately dumped within just a couple of weeks of the dawn of the new year. The problem is that I tend to make unrealistic resolutions. While my intentions are usually good, they are seldom reasonable to follow through on. Once I begin to slide, it is easy to dismiss my resolutions each year because I then realize I had no reasonable way to stick with them. I resort to another year of simply accepting mediocrity, and accepting that I will go another year with low self esteem and not do anything to change it.

But this year is different than every other year. Instead of vowing to work out every single day, stop drinking wine, and eat all natural foods, this year I have taken a different approach to gaining back some of my self esteem and confidence: I have decided to begin with smaller resolutions. This year it means finally doing something for permanent hair removal. I don’t have a lot of problem areas; however I have enough of a problem with unwanted hair that it takes time away from other things I should be doing to help improve myself. I am tired of spending time, money, and effort for getting waxings done at the salon. These also hurt, making me dread these appointments.
